LOOKING FORWARD TO JULY

This week I spent a lot of time jumping with my toddler on the blow up mattress in the living room because it was so hot and that's where the AC is. My child's early head start teachers will be bringing their school year to a close since my son will be turning three in August. I will miss them a lot.  It was so much fun to go to splash pads and indoor playgrounds with them.  They gave me so many ideas on motor skill activities and cognitive development.

I started reading the Perfect Stranger by Megan Miranda and this is why I'm loving it: It has to do with a main character who is Journalist and is forced to move out of the city with a friend, and the two of them take teaching jobs in the country and there's a murder that riles up the small town where they live.

I love any books that have to do with Journalism since I did some reporting in College for the Newspaper.

If you know of any thriller/journalism books, comment below.

I also wanted to mention that I was going to see Fireworks near the Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis, but it sort of fell through.  And this is real crazy....I actually know a woman who choreographs fireworks for private parties, or for small towns.  It's a very lucrative business which can pay an upwards of $30,000 but you have to take into account the cost of fireworks.  She personally travels to China to get them herself.

CURRENTLY

Reading: The Third Victim by Phillip Margolin, All the Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood, The Perfect Stranger By Megan Miranda, A Trick of the Light By Louise Penny
Watching: Big Little Lies (the final Season)
Cast of Big, Little Lies

And watching Fracture with Ryan Gosling and Anthony Hopkins

  1. I think I'd love that book. Not only did I consider journalism in college, but when it comes to reading, mysteries are my favorite genre.

    1. Journalism is an interesting career choice, as a writer I loved writing for the paper and having one more excuse to go from place to place -and ask people questions.

    1. Oh, it's a lot of fun. After I told him that we don't have any soup, he said "Let's go to the store and buy some more," I was so impressed!

  4. I bet you and your child had a wonderful time jumping into the air conditioning. It sounds like your child had great teachers with lots of good ideas.

The Perfect Stranger looks fun, if a bit scary for me. I've read lots of books with journalists as main characters, but I can't seem to think of any right now!

I hope you have a wonderful week! Stay cool.

    1. We do have a great amount of fun. Today, he was jumping up and down, in the water, at the water park, which was great fun as well.

  7. Sleeping in the room with the air conditioning was definitely the best plan even if you had to sleep on an air mattress! (I always find those so uncomfortable).

    1. I'm getting used to it Nicci. Now I did have an air mattress that was so big it was like a queen sized bed-I couldn't cope, smaller is better.

  8. I am so obsessed with the cover for Perfect Stranger. That purple fogginess (I don't know how to explain it) is just so aesthetically pleasing to me for some reason, ah! And ooh, I hope you're enjoying Big Little Lies. I miss the show already.

    1. Yeah Jessica, it's not easy to find a cover that's pleasing to the eyes. I hope I find a great one when I publish.
