           LOOKING FORWARD TO march

This week I came across an inspirational writer named Chris Fox who says he writes 5,000 words an hour!

On his blog: chrisfoxwrites.com  there is a Youtube clip where he talks about the acceleration of his novel sales including which months his books were selling, along with charts and graphs from Amazon to show the progression.  Some months, he has up to eleven thousand dollars in sales.  I picture Stephen King, dragging his mouse up and down charts like this guy's and being like.  'One million sales in December. Oh my!  And a tiny growth in April, what's up with that?'

Either way, this Chris fella' has like six novels out ,and it's interesting to see his enthusiasm when it comes to his novel writing.  You don't see a lot of novelists go in depth the way he does.

This week I also listened to Nell Scovell's audio book. If you don't know Nell, she is a television and magazine writer and producer.  She created Sabrina the Teenage Witch series. I also found out that Nell was a former writer for late night with David letterman she also wrote for The Wilton North Report, Coach, Monk, Murphy Brown, Charmed, Newhart, The Critic, NCIS.  She was the first woman to write an episode for the Simpsons.
Career advice she's been given:

"1: Never be afraid to write spec,  2: Don’t ask friends for work and 3: take any job that comes your way, you never know where it might lead."
Nell also talks about what it's like to be one of the few female directors and how women need to be asking themselves 'What would I do, if I weren't afraid?'
I made a little list of things I'd do if I wasn't afraid.

Readers, what would you do, if you weren't afraid? Please comment below.

This week I saw my brother play hockey at Doug Woog arena.  Great name, right?
My brother plays defense and his team played awesome that night-so they'll be going to the tournament.  Hopefully, I'll see him play there as well.  My brother is hard not to notice, he's got this real long beard, like one of those guys from Duck Dynasty.

Let's see, what else has been going on this week?  My two year old had a great time playing at this community gym by our house.  He's finally getting the hang of the trampoline, so he's been all about the bounce. And then last night I went to see a sketch/improv show at Fitzgerald theater.

So anyone who knows me, knows that I love comedy.  I started listening to this audio book by Retta called So Close to Being the Sh*t, Y'all Don't Even Know. Retta is an actress/comedian.  And boy is it funny!!
At one one point Retta said something along the lines,
“I wasn’t intimidated to work with the Queen B, Beyonce. At that time she hadn’t come out of her shell yet, she just finished the Austin Powers -film and Goldberg-although Goldberg wasn’t much, and she had just became Beyonce, after starting her career solo, and leaving Destiny’s Child."
I was like damn Daniel! This woman is confident. I had to look her up and saw that she performed in Good Boys and Where's the Money. She also said, she likes to Google herself, so I hope she comes across this post one day.

Readers are there any comedians that you just Love, Love, love?

This week I'm excited because I was able to download oracle after many attempts.  I thought I had a bug in my computer that was preventing me from downloading it.  And Oracle is a necessity for my online class, because I'm  learning SQL, structured query language. So I found out, I needed to download sql developer software which has java connected with it.

I’ve been using stackoverflow.com to help me answer some questions related to my IT class.

I just read somewhere that some people don't use Google as a source to answer their common questions.  Stackoverflow.com or Quora is also a resource because it's a community online that is devoted to answering all kinds of questions.

This week I also got the most glorious compliment on my writing.  You see every Saturday I meet with writers at Black Dog cafe, so the writers there are very familiar with my work.  This Saturday, I was going on and on about this writer, named Teresa, who writes all about her Babsia, polish grandmother, and how she has so many stories that are about this small-made-up polish village in Minnesota.  Her stories are absolutely hysterical!
Anyway, the writer, Jim was like, "you write some fantastic stories, too, about your life growing up in north Minneapolis, and they're filled with great characters and dialogue. Now if you could just connect all these stories and combine them in a novel." And you know what, that's what I plan to do! I'm just so thrilled that someone sees potential in my writing.

      Happy New Year

      Remembering my year in 2014

I did yoga today.  You know what yoga is; downward dog and plank's pose that goes along with stretching every muscle in your body.  But today our Teacher told us to meditate take two long breaths and along with it think of two things that happened every month this year.  Those things could have been things like successes or challenges.  "Its important to reflect and take time to give yourself achknowledement for what you have done throughout the year." she said.

This is a list of my 24 things that happened to me throughout 2014
      Breath in, Breath out

      8.      grandma passed on, I miss her tremendously
      9.      helped someone
      10.  read a big gigantic book called Little Friend by Donna Tartt

      12.  helped a friend get a job at a hospital
      13.  went to Duluth
      14.  Lost my $400 damage deposit to a woman who is a bad landlord and got it back by being assertive.
